Kua Bay is located on the Big Island and it is part of the Kai State Park, which is located along the leeward coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. This also marks the northern end of the state park and features several hiking trails and a number of lookout points from which you can enjoy great views of the salt-and-pepper coastline.The most popular activities that you can enjoy include swimming and snorkeling, especially during summer when the water is calm and peaceful. Surfers and body boarders usually come over in the winter to enjoy the rough waves. The marine life is another major attraction of this beach. On calmer days, you can see turtles and dolphins not far from shore and you may also see dolphins at times, although they mostly appear in the summer months.It can be challenging to access Kua Bay and as a visitor, you have to pass through an unpaved trail that runs for about a mile and a half. It is therefore recommended that you use an off-road vehicle to access the beach.
