Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel reportedly wants Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signed in the next few hours.
According to Spanish publication Sport, Blues manager Tuchel is urging his club to intensify talks to bring the 33-year-old attacker to Stamford Bridge.
It is explained that Chelsea have offered €20million (£17million) for him, albeit Barca hope they can receive more cash with add-ons.
The report says Tuchel is desperate for his club to sign the centre-forward, so has pleaded for them to make one last effort to wrap up a deal within hours.
In addition, there’s an agreement in principle for Aubameyang to pen a three-year contract with Chelsea.
Tuchel wants Aubameyang signed
If you’ve watched Chelsea’s opening three games of the Premier League season, it’s no surprise to hear the desperation to bring in a new No.9. They’ve still not yet signed a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who exited this summer to join Inter Milan on loan.
Aubameyang, who was a prolific goalscorer during his Arsenal days, is a player that can be lethal around the box.
Chelsea have been in desperate need of a 20-goal striker for several years, so could Barcelona’s frontman be the answer?
He’s proven himself at the likes of Barca, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund in his career.
Tuchel’s side would need the 33-year-old attacker to hit the ground running with them, though. Surely, he could thrive off the service provided by Chelsea’s more creative players like Reece James, Raheem Sterling and Mason Mount.
Described as “incredible” by Christian Pulisic, Aubameyang is a player you sense will be either a major success or the latest in a long line of flops.
