Report: Club now plan to raid Chelsea again for second time this summer, want ‘fantastic’ 23-year-old on loan

RB Leipzig are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea youngster Trevoh Chalobah on loan.

German side Leipzig have already signed Timo Werner from the Blues this summer in a £25million deal, but they’re planning another raid on Stamford Bridge.

According to the Evening Standard, the Bundesliga club are joining the race for Chelsea defender Chalobah.

It is understood they are competing with Inter Milan and Roma for the centre-back’s signature, who will be allowed to depart West London on loan if the Blues sign a new defender first.

Leipzig are in a defensive crisis that’s resulted in them hunting for someone who can slot into their back three.

Leipzig interested in Trevoh Chalobah

Described as “fantastic” last season by Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, Chalobah’s a talented young player receiving a lot of interest right now.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a fairly strong debut campaign in the Blues first team last year, competing well with some experienced teammates at the Bridge.

However, the Englishman may be allowed to continue his improvement out on loan under the right circumstances.

Leipzig have already successfully negotiated a transfer with Chelsea this summer, so their entrance into the transfer race is an interesting one.

Chalobah would have a familiar face immediately with Werner if he joined Leipzig, plus the Bundesliga has been a great division recently for English players.

However, there’s an argument to say he should stick with Premier League football to give a better guarantee he can get back into the Chelsea side.
