Newcastle United are reportedly “pushing hard” for the signature of Chelsea player Conor Gallagher.
According to journalist Luke Edwards on Twitter, Newcastle are trying to sign the 22-year-old Blues midfielder on loan.
The Magpies appear to be busy towards the back end of the transfer window trying to bring new faces to St James’ Park, with Chelsea’s young talent next in their sights.
It’s been reported Gallagher’s future under Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is unclear amid interest from Crystal Palace, Newcastle and West Ham.
Newcastle pushing hard for Conor Gallagher
Gallagher was superb during a season-long loan at Palace last year, which is why it’s no surprise an ambitious side like Newcastle are trying to get him.
He’s a box-to-box midfielder that provides a goal threat and outrageous energy. He has four senior England caps to his name, too.
There’s definitely room to improve if he’s develop into one of Chelsea’s key central midfielders this campaign due to the sheer competition in his position.
It’s easy to picture him joining Newcastle and becoming an instant key player, though.
With next week’s transfer deadline day fast approaching, it’ll be intriguing to see where Gallagher ends up.
Chelsea should definitely forget about sending Gallagher out on loan this summer. They should at least wait until January to assess his position under Tuchel.
He deserves a fair crack at Stamford Bridge due to last season’s success, so these next few months are a time for him to really knuckle down and show his potential.
