Chelsea have made a number of signings of young players this summer, and they have a different plan for each one.
Thomas Tuchel spoke to Chelsea TV about his plans for the latest addition, Cesare Casadei from Inter, who joined for an impressive €20m last week.
As he explained, as much as we all want to see the youngster in action, this is going to be a season of settling in and adjustment for the midfielder, who has yet to play a single minute in league football.
Still, he’s been hand picked by Neil Bath, the head of youth development, and there’s no higher qualification than that.
“We need to give him time and not get over excited because I think we wouldn’t do him a favour. He’s a box-to-box midfielder, very strong with his head, very physical for his age,” Tuchel said.
“But at the moment, it’s important he learns the language, he learns what Chelsea is all about and understands the culture and principles to live and play for Chelsea.
“Then we will try to bring him to first team training and open the doors for him. Then in the end, he needs to step through himself.”
That’s in contrast to Carney Chukwuemeka, who is a few months younger, but already has Premier League experience, and only settling in to a new city, not a new country.
Let’s hope we see plenty of both in first team action in years to come.
