Report: Chelsea ready to increase bid by £15m to sign ‘dangerous’ PL player Tuchel wants

Chelsea are reportedly willing to pay as much as £60m to sign Everton’s Anthony Gordon this summer.

According to Sky Sports, the Blues have recently had initial bids of around £40-45million for Gordon rejected by Everton.

It is understood Thomas Tuchel’s side are willing to increase their offer by an extra £15million, though.

The report explains that Chelsea are prepared to fork out a mega £60million fee to bring him to Stamford Bridge, which would be a total sum including potential add-ons.

As it stands, there’s ongoing talks between the Premier League rivals to resolve the 21-year-old’s future.

Anthony Gordon for £60m

It’s quite alarming to see Gordon’s valuation keep rocketing up to new heights with every transfer rumour.

The Everton attacker, who can cover as an emergency centre-forward, is an exciting wide player with pace to burn.

Described as “dangerous” a couple of years ago by Carlo Ancelotti, he’s a skilful winger that’s taken on the role recently of a key player in the Everton line-up.

Gordon is still waiting for everything to click for him in front of goal, but he’s proving a real handful for Premier League defenders with his speed and tenacity.

The England Under-21 international is a promising young player with so many great attributes to grow into a top player.

It’s been reported Chelsea boss Tuchel does want to sign Gordon and potentially play him in a right wing-back role. That would be out of his comfort zone when you consider how exciting he is further up the pitch, though.

In theory, a change of shape to a midfield three that includes Mason Mount could allow for Chelsea’s attackers to thrive a lot more.

The current formation definitely isn’t getting the best out of the frontline, so a switch to allow for conventional wingers may be worth exploring. It would allow the likes of Gordon, Raheem Sterling, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech to operate in preferred roles.
