‘If Chelsea are stupid enough’: TalkSPORT pundit absolutely rips into Blues transfer rumour he’s hearing

Simon Jordan has reacted to Chelsea’s latest transfer links to Everton player Anthony Gordon by saying they would be “stupid” to pay the quoted £60million price tag.

Gordon, 21, is an emerging talent at the centre of a transfer saga in the final stages of the summer window.

It’s been reported on Tuesday that Chelsea are willing to pay as much as £60m to sign the Everton youngster.

The Blues desperately need more goals into the side given the struggles of so many of their attackers, but could be about to spend big on a player that doesn’t yet possess a glittering CV.

For certain, Gordon has been a standout individual in a poor Everton side during the last year. He’s a skilful wide attacker with tremendous pace, trickery and energy.

However, the Liverpool-born forward only has 52 Premier League appearances to his name, scoring four goals in that time.

Simon Jordan on Anthony Gordon

TalkSPORT pundit Jordan can’t believe he’s hearing a £60million figure being mentioned for Everton’s rising star.

He suggests London giants Chelsea are making a sizeable mistake. In contrast, the Merseyside club should swiftly accept the deal.

“If Chelsea are stupid enough to be the latest incarnation of Johnny Splattercash, let them pay for him,” Jordan told talkSPORT.

Go and get the £60million. I think most Evertonians will look at it with a degree of disappointment but realise it’s good business.

He later added: “£60million for Anthony Gordon. Send him in a cab, quick, before somebody actually wakes up and smells the coffee.”

Pray we’ve hit the jackpot

Yes, Gordon has looked very lively and explosive in the Premier League. In particular, his game has really started to develop under Everton boss Frank Lampard.

However, it’s a complete unknown right now if further down the line he can transform into a £60million-rated player.

This looks like a major gamble that will drastically go one way or the other.
