Per Gabriel Sanz of Mundo Deportivo, Martin Braithwaite asked Mallorca (one team showing interest in the player) to pay him a little more than he earns at Barcelona for him to join.
Braithwaite earns €6m gross at Barcelona per season – which means he might’ve asked for more from the mid-table La Liga team.
Braithwaite’s strange request has put his negotiations with Mallorca on hold for now.
The situation is quite worrying for Barca as they are mandated by law to pay Braithwaite €12m if they wish to terminate his contract.
To avoid paying the huge fee, Barca would gladly hand Braithwaite a letter of freedom if he finds a new club.
