New PSG coach laughed at Chelsea about their interest in Kimpembe.
Chelsea have signed Kalidou Koulibaly, but they’re not stopping there.
After losing two defenders they’re keen to keep reinforcing, and they’ve got their eyes on another – PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe.
Their interest has hit the back pages big time in France, and new PSG manager Clement Gaultier was asked about it today – and revealed he’d even laughed about it with the player.
“I’ve read everything that has been said about Kimpembe,” Gaultier said in quotes picked up by the Evening Standard.
“We even laughed about it together!”
Despite that, it doesn’t sound like they were laughing off the possibility of a move. In fact, Gaultier couldn’t even come close to assuring those asking about the defender’s future.
“I like him – he’s a great centre-back but what will happen, I don’t know.”
It sounds like the France player wants to go, and his club have accepted that. That might mean a deal is coming pretty quickly, and it can’t come too soon for Chelsea, who need their new signings on board and ready for the season to come as soon as possible.
