Peter Schmeichel has claimed Arsenal are the only side that poses the biggest threat in the Red Devils’ push to finish in the top four.

The two Premier League giants are among a host of clubs eyeing a Champions League spot at the end of the season.

Schmeichel makes top-four prediction

Despite the apparent stiff competition in the top-four race, Schmeichel is backing United to seal the final Champions League place.

However, according to the legendary goalkeeper, his former side could face significant competition from rivals Arsenal in their push to play in Europe next season.

“I think Arsenal have shown some great form,” Schmeichel said on BBC 5 Live Breakfast when asked who he is backing in the top-four battle.

“But actually, on current form in the last five games, Man United is a little bit better than Arsenal. It’s hard to see but they are. I think having the points on the board rather than games in hand [is more important],” he added.

Arsenal, who beat Brentford 2-1 in their last outing are scheduled to play Wolves on Thursday, February 24.

A win over Wolves will send them to fifth on the log with 45 points.
