Thomas Tuchel Hands in a brutal Romelu Lukaku verdict Against Crystal Palace.

It is no longer any news that Lukaku was just able to touch the ball only seven times against Crystal Palace and even if this is a very bad dealing, Tuchel has always been quick to shield the Belgian but not this time anymore.

Thomas Tuchel went ahead to explain why chelsea played so un engaging in the first half and as they went in for a break, he proceeded to talk to his team.

“We told the team at halftime not to lose faith and to keep on going like in a cup game.”

“Maybe this one chance would come and it would be decisive. Keep on believing, don’t do crazy stuff, don’t take risks and allow transition for the opponent.”

“Don’t take risks” probably comes to summarise why Chelsea’s play can appear so passive and monotonous on a consistent basis.

Tuchel had said to the Chelsea in-house team.

Just as always, again, Lukaku was just a passenger in the game almost seeming like he was just a spectator to Chelsea’s overall match and play as he was just walking around the pitch and only making runs without any serious impact in the game.

Although he netted two of three Chelsea’s goals in the CWC semi finals and finals, it is not enough to get the criticism off of him and also his glaring mistakes can now be seen by everyone.

Its safe to say that Lukakau has become the most obvious of all scapegoats.

“I’m not so sure if I have a good answer. I don’t know what it says. It says he was obviously not involved and could not make a point today. I am not sure if it says so much about us in general.”

But sadly Thomas, it very much does.

Tuchels kind of play is always Heavily controlled low risk slow possession play which has happened to create a formidable defensive unit for Chelsea no doubt, but it rarely exposed for a transition so frequently under frank Lampard with that caution comes a heavy price in attacking expression for the team.
